About

We are not building a farm

We are building a supply chain that happens to begin with cultivation. The difference matters, because it decides what we optimise for.

The thesis

Formulators buy certainty

A pharmaceutical or nutraceutical buyer is not short of herb suppliers. What they are short of is material that arrives with the same active-compound profile every time, documented well enough to put in front of a regulator, in the quantity agreed, in the month agreed.

That is a supply-chain problem before it is an agricultural one. It is solved with controlled environments, measured inputs, batch records and testing — not with more acreage. We are designing the operation around that from the start, rather than growing first and adding quality systems afterwards.

The site

Hesaraghatta, Bengaluru

The identified site sits in Bengaluru Urban district, north-west of the city. It was chosen for three practical reasons rather than for cost alone.

Protected cultivation structures under an open sky
Illustrative — protected cultivation structures of the type planned.

Buyers within reach

Bengaluru is home to a dense cluster of pharmaceutical, Ayurvedic and nutraceutical manufacturers. Short lead times and same-day sampling are possible in a way they are not from a remote holding.

Research on the doorstep

ICAR-IIHR, the national horticulture research institute, is at Hesaraghatta. The University of Agricultural Sciences is nearby. Protected-cultivation expertise and planting material are local.

Climate and logistics

A moderate year-round climate reduces the cooling load on protected structures, and the airport and highway network support both domestic despatch and eventual export.

What we intend to hold

None of the following is held today. They are the approvals and certifications the operation is being designed to meet, listed so a buyer can see the intended standard and tell us early if it falls short of what they need.

Food safetyFSSAI licence for handling and processing
AYUSHKarnataka AYUSH registration for medicinal plant cultivation and processing
Manufacturing practiceGMP for the processing and packing operation
Agricultural practiceGood Agricultural and Collection Practices, appropriate to protected cultivation
OrganicNPOP certification, subject to the conversion period
ExportImporter Exporter Code and APEDA registration, when export begins

Status

Where the project actually stands

The company is incorporated. The site is identified. The cultivation model, capital plan and operating budget are built and under review. We have not broken ground, we hold no certifications, and we have not supplied anyone.

We are talking to buyers now, before planting, because what a formulator specifies — species, part, active thresholds, particle size, volume, cadence — should decide what goes into the ground. Getting that order right is the difference between a facility with customers and a facility with inventory.
